‘Crime and Punishment’ on stage in Nowruz

The play ‘Crime and Punishment’ directed by Iman Afsharian has been scheduled to go on stage for Nowruz holidays in Tehran.

‘Crime and Punishment’ is an adaptation of a famous novel with the same name written by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

The play went on stage in December 2015 and January 2016 and was warmly welcomed by the audience. Also, it garnered three awards from the 34th Fajr International Theater Festival.

Tourists who are traveling to Tehran during Nowruz holiday will be able to watch the play.

Dostoyevsky’s novel centers on the mental distress and ethical dilemmas of Rodion Raskolnikov, a poor student who makes a plan to kill an illegal pawnbroker for her money.

Mehdi Pakdel, the actor of ifilm series ‘Kimia’, plays the role of Raskolnikov.

Pakdel’s first stage appearance was in 1997, after which he began to pursue an acting career.

He has appeared in a number of ifilm movies and series, including ‘The Innocent Ones’, ‘The First Night of Peace’ and ‘Midday Adventures’.
